How To - Promotions & Discounts
Promotions
Here is an example of a cocktail promotion (buy 1 and get 1 free). The promotion discounts one of the cocktails. This promotion is set to favour the company by only giving away the cheapest cocktail.
Promotions can also be set to not display the savings line which would also appear on the customer bill or receipt. The same promotion is shown below, but without the promotional information.
Discounts
Discounts can be applied to transactions on the PoS if the required product(s) or minimum spends have been reached.
-
When you are ready to issue the discount, press the Pay button
-
All of the available discounts will be displayed.
-
Press the required discount button to issue the discount on to the current account
-
If additional transactions are rung up, the discount will only apply to those above the discount line.
-
The discount buttons will remain greyed out until the required products have been sold on the current account or the discount has already been applied.
-
Some discounts may have a small card symbol located in the top-left corner of the button; this indicates that the discount requires a card to be swiped through the magnetic swipe reader on the PoS to activate the discount.
Other Payments
Some payment methods such as credit card may be configured to have the option to include a tip - this can be added on when completing the payment.
If your venue is configured with integrated EFT, then the Chip & PIN device will prompt if configured the customer to leave a tip.
-
Press the Pay button and select the credit card button.
-
The Enter Payment Amount screen will appear - here the total value of the bill including tip can be entered. Aztec will automatically treat the additional balance as a tip, or alternatively press Enter to go to the next screen to allow a tip to be entered.
-
By default, the Total button will be toggled on – if you know the total amount then enter this here
-
Press the Enter button or press the Tip button to key in the tip value
-
Press the Enter button.
If configured, a discount may be set to disable active promotions on an account so that a promotion and discount are not active at the same time.
An example of this may be where a normal promotion is running but a staff discount scheme is also in operation and only either the promotion or staff discount can be given to the employee.
When selecting the discount, the terminal will check to see which is the better saving and automatically apply the discount if it is greater than the promotional saving.
If the promotional saving is higher it will prompt the user to choose if they should apply the discount.
